THE CONTROL

The concentration will take us to the control and in the same way the conscious control will take us to the total concentration.

It’s very important in the Pilates Method that the cerebral cortex and not the deep areas of our brains control entirely any physical movement.

With the conscious control and with the upper, frontal and deeper parts of our brains will avoid the negative damages in the Pilates Method:

Fast and non control movements

When we realize a mosquito is stink on us we made a fast and non controlled movement, this is the sort of movement that has been ordered since the deepest part of our brain, it has not been a reflexive movement and this is why it is that fast, but as well we can not forget that it has been non controlled by us. On the other side if we want consciously to kill a fly we use the technique and not the speed. It is a mere example but clear enough of the difference between a control movement and a no control movement.

Parasite Movements

When an action is made several times the brain develops different high speed connections so that the performance of the movement is made in an easier way, but this is the opposite to the Pilates method due to the repetition of a movement or posture brings the parasite movements to the movements that is being performed. Those who practice aerobic or body-building call this “obsession or mania”, To avoid this we must go back to the sport principle: “the concentration”.

Incorrect Movements

It is possible to have the needed concentration, but not the technique required to work out correctly, we could blame our teacher or trainer for that, the regulate progression of the work out exercises will avoid controlled and conscious movements but not the right ones for the propose- Not always we as a teacher can blame to our students, professional trainers must realize that the students need basic principles in all sports; I am talking about a program for each student or individualize education.

Due to that in the fitness and body- building worlds there is an aerobic component and / or due to the resistance strengthen of these movements is easier to control them and they are more regulated for the amount of movements that these sorts of aerobic works outs required.

The base of a dynamic flexibility in Yoga, with the base of the built a strong body with strong muscles without getting an hypertrophy in the muscles, make of Pilates the perfect method for people of different ages.
