THE SMOOTHNESS OR FLUIDITY OF THE MOVEMENTS

Like a dancer has not enough with the technique and concentration but needs to have “art in her/his movements” in Pilates there must be an art in the performance of the movements. The fluidity and smoothness of the movements turn the workouts into a dance.

The person has to be in harmony with the INNER ,be part of it and be in constant movement, be a tiger in the jungle , be a fish in the ocean, be more than the sum of all the parts, be more than oneself. That create art, never a machine will have grace and art in its movements.

It is difficult to explain in a methodic way what is “art in the movement”, it has been tried by the best artists and philosophers with no joy until they have asked to a poet.

The Flexibility: The harmony and smoothness in the movement can only be achieved thanks to the flexibility. The Flexibility is the opposite of the rigidity and to the stiffness of the muscles that take us to the instability, and to the inability to performance continuous and smooth movements. We have to performance the exercises avoiding the jerking movements so that we will get more flexible muscles, joints, and still all depends of the bodies and it will help to do safe and smooth movements, without breaking the fluidity of the exercise.

But to give a piece of advice I must say it is very important to keep in mind always that the movements can not be interrupted. At the same sec that one is ending the next one has to start being performance, even the pauses must have their moments and space.

The fluidity avoid as well jerky and accelerated movements that are non desired and that help us to prevent the muscular problems, the injuries and to have sore muscles when we start practicing any sport.
